Student Privacy Pledge
We’re in! I’m pleased to announce we took the Student Privacy Pledge earlier this week. We’ve been compliant from day 1 but it’s nice to have our commitment publicly memorialized.
The Student Privacy Pledge is a commitment by service providers to safeguard student privacy regarding the collection, maintenance, and use of student personal information. The pledge was developed by the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA).
Our commitment to student data privacy includes:
- Not collecting, maintaining, using or sharing student personal information beyond what is needed for authorized educational/school purposes
- Not selling student personal information
- Not using or disclosing student information collected through educational/school services for behavioral targeting of advertisements to students
- Not building a personal profile of a student other than for supporting authorized educational/school purposes
- Maintaining a comprehensive security program that is reasonably designed to protect the security, privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of student personal information
- Supporting access to and correction of student personal information by the student or their authorized parent, guardian, or school official
- Clearly disclosing what types of student personal information we collect, if any, and the purposes for which the information we maintain is used or shared with third parties
- Providing annual notice of changes to our privacy policy
- Responding to student and parent requests for their data
